Flexible working – an employee power shift [REPORT]

The latest IWG Global Workspace Survey highlights a marked power shift towards the employee when it comes to dictating what an average working day looks like. The survey, conducted in January 2019, canvassed over 15,000 professionals from 80 countries, and reports their views on the changing workplace and flexible working.

Some findings from the report:

  • 80% said that when faced with two similar employment offers, they would turn down the one that didn’t offer flexible working
  • 50% of employees globally are working outside of their main office headquarters for at least 2.5 days every week
  • 85% confirm that productivity has increase in their business as a result of greater flexibility
  • 65% of businesses say flexible working helps reduce operational expenditure, help manage risk and consolidate their portfolio
  • 65% of respondents believe that businesses that tailor the work environment to the work function of staff are more productive
