The IIM Interim Management Survey has been released for 2018

The Institute of Interim Management has released its annual survey for 2018. Some of the key findings were:

  • Interim managers are mostly in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s
  • Most interim managers work in the private sector, but there is a significant tranche in the Public and Third sectors
  • Interim use in the Public Sector is down to 31%, which hasn’t been seen since 2013
  • The most common purpose (at 30%) is in ‘consulting roles’. Interim managers are often engaged in advising in addition to implementing.
  • Interim managers are typically paid on a day-rate basis through their Limited Companies
    (>90% of interim managers)
  • Rates fluctuate due to seniority, demand, sector industry and function. Interim managers get
    paid from around £500 per day to £1,500 and more. Most typical pay is in the £600-£800
